Originally from Houston, Texas, I spent my teenage years in the Philippines and China from 1984 to 1990. Returning to Texas for college, I studied Computer Science and Asian Studies at Baylor University graduating in 1994. Compaq Computers Japan in Tokyo hired me as a Senior Systems Engineer and I was eventually transferred to desktop product marketing as a Product Analyst. In 1998, I was hired by Gateway Computers Japan to take charge of their Enterprise Product Marketing effort where we successfully introduced a corporate build-to-order sales model with innovative product designs.
After the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997, I realized that I needed a better understanding of the international political economy and attended Georgetown University's Master of Science in Foreign Service program. Graduating with honors in 2001, I returned to Japan with my wife, a Tokyo native, and began working for the American International Group as a Management Associate in 2002. The next year, I was transferred to the AIG regional office in Hong Kong where I eventually became the Regional Manager for Transactional Insurance which included products for M&A and IPO activity covering all of Greater China and Southeast Asia.
Returning home to Houston in 2006, I started work for Kerr-McGee Oil and Gas as the Risk Manager. Shortly after, Anadarko Petroleum purchased Kerr-McGee and I was folded into the Anadarko Risk Management team. In 2008, the President of Kawasaki Gas Turbines - Americas (a Kawasaki Heavy Industries subsidiary) asked me to assist him in re-shaping the company.
I left Kawasaki and founded Leon Pacific in 2009.
In 2010, AllianceBernstein hired Leon Pacific and I eventually transitioned to a full-time position in Hong Kong as the Director for Business Development and Consultant Relations. Finally in 2012, I returned to my consultant practice.
